Baron and its area
The village of Baron is located in the « Garrigues »( Mediterranean scrublands)at the crossroads of the Cévennes hills, the Provence and Languedoc regions. The ruins of the Arques Castle above the village are the only remnants of the saracen occupation. It is a genuine « pays de cocagne » (Land of plenty), with smooth hills covered by green oak trees, fig trees and olive trees. Hillsides are also planted with vineyards leading to panoramic lowlands. The view over the valley all the way to the Uzès Duchy is really breathtaking !
